QA Functionality & Localisation Tester

  • QA for Steam, Android & Apple platforms

  • Cross-platform play & multiplayer testing

  • Timed functionality testing including on live servers

  • Collaboration with SEGA Japan

  • Explorative and destructive testing

One Piece Bounty Rush was originally a mobile only game, so when the Steam version was soon to be released, I joined the QA team, focusing on the functionality of the PC version as well as cross-platform play. I tested the Steam, Apple and Android releases.

Being new to SEGA at the time, this project gave me the opportunity to further develop myself as a tester as Sonic x Shadow Generations had me focusing on localisation first, functionality second, whereas Bounty Rush was the opposite. Also, I faced new challenges as many features had to be tested prior to the rankings resetting and whilst the game was down for maintenance, meaning I quickly had to learn to work to deadlines of literal hours. Always looking for opportunities to develop my skillset, I volunteered for this project and was chosen for my demonstrated adaptability via my work testing SEGA’s official website a couple weeks prior.

Due to the multiplayer nature of Bounty Rush, this project involved collaborative testing, and strong communication between team members. I also had direct communication with a member of the SEGA Japan team, reporting bugs and discussing issues via Microsoft Teams.

To summarise, my time on One Piece Bounty Rush grew me into a more efficient and adaptable functionality tester. It also allowed me to develop my localisation testing skills further, ability to work with discretion (particularly once servers were live again) and gave me the opportunity to explore the testing of multiplayer experiences.
