QA Functionality & Localisation Tester
QA for Steam & PS4 platforms
Full text runs of the English localisation via TestRail
Functionality and localisation bugs tickets created in Redmine
Collaboration with SEGA Japan
Explorative and destructive testing
Upon joining the SEGA Europe team, I hit the ground running, almost immediately joining the QA team for Sonic x Shadow Generations and becoming a tester for Steam and PlayStation 4. As well as immediately giving me AAA experience, this project helped train me into a thorough, skilled functionality and localisation tester with a keen eye for detail.
Using TestRail, I was responsible for completing a full text run alongside two colleagues, to ensure that the in-game text:
A) matches documentation
B) uses correct English(US) grammar and spelling
C) contextually fits with the rest of the game’s terminology whilst also maintaining clarity
Any issues discovered, be they localisation or functionality related, were reported to Redmine, an alternative to Jira preferred by the Japanese development team. Being my first professional game project, my time working on Sonic x Shadow Generations provided me with a solid foundation from which to continue growing as a QA tester within the games industry. Now, I can write clear and concise tickets and judge aspects such as severity, reproducibility and how to explain the steps to reproduce a bug with little ambiguity, and moved into my next project (still under NDA) with newfound confidence that I would excel in my position at SEGA Europe.
